Call for Artists! Takoma ARTery Window Display at Historic Takoma!

Artists interested in displaying their work in the November to mid-January holiday window display at Historic Takoma in Takoma Junction, use the Takoma ARTery Display Request Form. Important dates are noted below. Priority will be given to ensure a variety of mediums and to Takoma ARTery members.  

We encourage all to apply. We want to have a diverse and inclusive range of artwork and artists for the show. The Historic Takoma window is large and located near a good amount of foot traffic. Small or medium pieces are recommended to allow as many artists as possible to be featured. However, larger works will also be considered. 

Deadline for entries: Sunday, November 9

Notification of acceptance: Monday, November 17

Drop-off dates: Friday, November 21, 2pm–6pm

Opening: Monday, November 24

Artists Reception: Friday, December 5, 5pm–7pm

Closing: Mid-January (date to be determined)

For those selected for the show, there is a display fee for the two-month show to help cover advertising, printing, use of window space, and other costs associated with hosting the display: $30 for Artist Directory members, $40 for non-members.

• Artists must supply necessary supplies for displaying their work (easels, screws, wires, small tables for jewelry, etc.). 
• If anyone is interested in volunteering with the behind-the-scenes logistics (communication, organization, display assistance, etc.), please contact us at TakomaArtery@gmail.com. You do not need to be an exhibiting artist to assist.

Local Artists Welcome to Apply for Takoma ARTery 2.0 Exhibition

Local artists may apply for an upcoming exhibition at the Takoma Park Community Center featuring work by new or current members of the Takoma ARTery artists group.

Applicants should submit the online application form with the requested information and artwork 

images by the Sunday, November 9 deadline. It’s free to apply, and there’s more info about the Arts and Humanities Division’s art exhibition program on the City website.

The tentative date for the opening reception is Friday, December 12, 2025. The exhibition will be on display for at least three months with no closing date scheduled yet. Selected artists most likely will be showing two or three pieces depending on the size and suitability of their artwork.

Artists who are selected for the exhibition should be new or current members of the Takoma ARTery, a local volunteer-run artists group that provides various benefits, including an online artist directory, storefront window displays, social media promotion, and artist events. The annual membership fee is $40, and more info is available at takomaartery.com. Some fee waivers are available based on ability to pay.

ARTery members don’t need to be Takoma Park residents but should have some connection to the city, such as living or working here or in nearby communities.

Artists who participated in the first ARTery exhibition at the Takoma Park Community Center are not eligible to apply. Artists who applied but weren’t accepted for that exhibition are welcome to apply.

Applicants are not guaranteed inclusion in the exhibition, and all decisions about the selection of artists and artwork will be made by Arts and Humanities Manager Brendan Smith. Artists may sell their work, and no commission is charged on any sales.
