About the Artist

I’ve always admired the creativity and workmanship of artists… their free expression, eagerness to explore, and skill sets. Unfortunately, none of which I possess.

Ten years ago, I met a woman artist who repurposed plastic market and department store bags into beautiful useful totes and handbags. It was an epiphany! I felt it important to share how beautiful functional art can be transformed from discarded materials. With that, in-jeen-yuhs was born.

My mission is to showcase women artists that have created a variety of ingeniously designed home and personal use wares, ones that have a story to tell, are repurposed, and sustainably made with minimal waste.

in-jeen-yuhs sells a variety of products including bowls made from reused telephone wires, chopsticks and local sustainable woods, as well as duffels, backpacks, messenger bags made from reworked military tent canvas or industrial netting. I also sell ethically sourced jewelry and one of a kind vintage record lined journals, as well as other items I pick up along the way.

I’ve vended for years throughout MoCo including pop-ups at the Takoma Street Festival, Things from Egypt, with Takoma Artery and at Takoma Flea (2024). I am also a founding volunteer of Takoma Artery.

My name is Beth Janoff, Curator and Frustrated Artist of in-jeen-yuhs, an e-commerce and local pop-up store throughout the DMV. I’m proud to share the work from artists who are eclectic and innovative.
