About the Artist
I dabble in quite a few different mediums but clay is my favorite! I learned the basics of ceramics in my late twenties from my mother and father, both accomplished potters. Later I expanded my techniques by studying at Penland and Arrowmont Craft Schools.
My ceramic techniques include hand building, slab construction, carving, and pit firing using combinations of stoneware, porcelain, semi-precious stones and various mixed media. I am inspired and spontaneously guided to a finished piece by elements I interpret from nature. I’m drawn to multifaceted figurative work, transformations in nature and detailed surface treatments in color and texture. I live in Silver Spring, MD, right on the border of Takoma Park but I really feel like my art & soul belong in Takoma Park.
