Liam Thomas

I am a mixed-media artist and educator born and raised in the DMV area. I moved to Takoma Park from DC in 2024, and I am continually inspired by this community and its commitment to elevating its local artists. Through my cut-paper photomontages and multimedia animation work, I seek to examine the semiotic mutability of the photographic image, creating unique visual narratives that offer new perspectives on the relationship between recorded images and reality when the two have become increasingly disconnected from each other. Max Ernst, Joseph Cornell, Stan Brakhage, and Bruno Munari are a few artists who continually inspire my artistic work and educational practice.
