Maria Simonsson

I have worked with textiles all my life and tried many different techniques. I enjoy working in three dimensions, creating figure, birds, vessels, that are not usually seen in fabric. I work with wire armatures and cover them with fabric. The fabric is then hand-stitched in place - a time-consuming and meditative part of the work that has become more and more important to me.

I am a Takoma Park resident for 40 years.
