About the Artist

Sometimes I start with a plan, but more often than not, I end up with something completely different from my initial vision. I take great pleasure in the Zen of letting my art flow through my hands without trying to control how it will turn out. It's a meditation of a kind in color and texture. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. After taking classes in encaustic and multi media collage from Marcie Wolf-Hubbard, I learned (and am still learning) to combine wax, texture and found objects to create abstract works as well as paintings from photographs I have taken. I like trying different combinations of colors. In addition to encaustic and multi media collage I also like to work in various forms of fabric (weaving, knitting, crocheting, embroidery) and paper (gelli printing and collage). I have lived in Takoma Park, DC for 14 years. Since retirement, I have more energy and time to spend on artistic pursuits.
